Iona is coming into the game fresh off of a 35-6 rout of Xavier (0-1, NY) where they saw their junior QB Darius Wilson throw for 197 yards and 2 TD’s, while rushing for another. The second game will feature Pope John (0-3, NJ) playing against Iona Prep (1-0, NY). Anthony’s running back Mario Escobar had a stellar day with two rushing touchdowns. 500 after falling to Maryland powerhouse Franklin 33-15. Anthony’s will be looking to get back to.
Delbarton put forth a solid performance despite being without their stud tight end, Stanford NCAA Division 1 commit, Lukas Ungar. Delbarton QB Cole Freeman was the star of the game throwing for 2 TD’s and rushing for another. Delbarton will be coming into the game looking to build on the momentum they created for themselves when they came from behind twice in the second half to beat Landon (Md.) 34-27 on opening day Saturday, September 6th. The first game of the day will feature Delbarton (1-0, NJ) taking on St. Three teams from NJ and three teams from NY will be facing off against each other, starting at 11am, for Hudson River bragging rights. The National Catholic High School Football Association (NCHSFA) will be hosting the “Battle for the Bridge” at the home of the NY Giants/Jets in Rutherford. This Saturday Metlife stadium will be rocking once again, but not because of the Jets or the Giants.
